The Grove
by Ken Zahn

Financial planners encounter all kinds of clients and various types of cases . . . but rarely do they ever get involved in solving the murder of a client.

In Old Florida, gossip and intrigue hangs like Spanish moss in live oaks. Arthur, a local financial planner, is begged by an important client to help a friend in need of serious financial planningadvice. Before Arthur can resolve the friend’s dilemma and formulate a workable plan, she mysteriously dies. Strangely, the local Sheriff—rumored to be romantically involved with the deceased—asks Arthur for assistance in investigating the death.

Arthur finds the mysterious case to be riddled with contemporary financial problems—family members are in dire need of money and developers would have killed for the land a year ago. Moreover, times have changed as the real estate market is upside down due to overbuilding in central Florida and the sub-prime crisis. The planner is compelled to dig through vital information about the client’s friend in an attempt to solve the murder, in similar fashion to solving any financial planning case.

The Grove is penned by Kenneth Zahn, a financial planner for over 30 years.
