Family history manuscripts can be easily transformed into classic, professionally designed publications replete with photographs and illustrations. All that is needed is your submitted manuscript composed on a standard writing program such as Microsoft Word along with copies of your family photographs. Our editors will scan your prints or we can use the photos stored on your computer.
An associate editor at Southern Lion Books will transfer the text and photos to electronic disks in the format that is required by our printing company. A hard copy of the finished work will be mailed to you for review and for any additions, changes or corrections needed.
After the initial review by the author, the finished disks will be sent to our national printer (who, incidentally, does work for the largest publishing houses and academic presses). The disks will be printed in a hard copy or “check-set” format for a second review. The check-set will look exactly like the manufactured book and you will now have a second chance to review the work to insure that the finished product is exactly as you envisioned.
After your final approval, the printing will begin. In approximately four to five weeks the manufactured books will be packed into protective cartons and mailed by our insured, motor transport carrier. |
