Mauriel Phillips Joslyn, a contributor to Andersonville: The Southern Perspective and Mildred Rutherford’s Truths of History, received her Masters in History in 2001 from Georgia College and State University. Mauriel, the author of five books on War Between the States topics, has developed talks on Pat Cleburne, Confederate POWs and US policy, and World War I aviation. She is also the author of historical books for children and the writer/co-producer of a short film set during WWII titled My Christmas Soldier. The 36-minute film comes with lesson plans for teachers to teach WWII homefront history and this author can provide a classroom program.

Mary Frazier Long, past president of the Georgia Retired Educators Association, is the author of a number of publications to include “Bill Arp,” Uncivil War Humorist and Old Georgia Privies. Mary, an active educator, also works as reporter for the Gwinnett County Citizen and her diverse topics include “Abraham Lincoln: From the Southern Viewpoint,” “Old Georgia Privies,” and “Bill Arp: Georgia Author.” Mary, a popular speaker who uses much humor in her presentations, is highly sought by church, civic, and educational groups.

J. H. “Hank” Segars, managing editor of Southern Lion Books, is the author and editor of a number of books about the American South. His topics include: “Getting Published: The Art of Placing Your Manuscript into Print,” “Andersonville: The Southern Perspective,” and “Black Southerners in Confederate Armies.” Hank earned a M.Ed. in Adult Education from the University of Georgia and has taught classes in community schools and presented to a number of historical societies and Civil War Round Tables. This speaker is also a freelance writer for the Lake Oconee Living magazine.
